If Ice Were Warm
Poor Minik was scooped up by Admiral Peary from his native Greenland and deposited with his father and some other Greenlanders in New York City when he was just a boy. Most, including his father, died quickly from the exposure to new germs and he was stranded in New York. Then he discovered that the Museum of Natural History had faked his father's burial and put his father’s skeleton on display. He tried unsuccessfully to get his father’s bones back from the museum for burial. He wandered back and forth between the US and Greenland for some years but had forgotten his native language by the time he returned to Greenland and could never fit in in either place.
